Socio-cultural factors affecting the name selection of children by Iranian families
(case study Hormozgan Province)

Name switching means for introducing human identity and the culture of a society is considered. This phenomenon among all human beings around the world and even among communities that lived in very primitive always existed. This article explores the culture of selection name in Hormozgan province. The target population consists of all individuals is to get the baby to birth registration offices have visited the province. Simple random sampling method, the number of 500 people were chosen. The results show that the relationship between religiosity and nationalism families and the choice of name is significant at 99%. This means that families with higher religiosity more Islamic names and then tend to ethnic names. And vice versa families of religiosity less to national names, and then Persian neutral tendency. Families that nationalism higher more national names and Persian Neutral oriented and then tends to ethnic names in the next category is and more from the nationalist reduced tendency to Islamic names highlighted more. |
